Myxofibrosarcoma

Myxoid MFH corresponds to the high grade end of the spectrum of tumours.

This is one of the commoner sarcomas of the elderly. It most often occurs on the limbs or limb girdle. Most often is forms a superficial multinodular mass. There is a spectrum of tumours of varying cellularity. Vacuolated cells filled with mucin form pseudolipoblasts. The quantity of myxoid stroma is variable. Usually there is expression only of vimentin and focally of SMA. Low grade myxofibrosarcomas rarely metastasis.

An epithelioid variant of myxofibrosarcoma has been described.
